Millie's Makeover

Millie's room is still a work in progress, but it's coming along. I made a mood board post about the ideas we had in this room. Slowly but surely we will tackle these rooms one by one. Both Chris and I work full time and I am in class two nights a week, so these projects only get done when we get 5 minutes here or a free weekend. I wanted to document the progress we have made thus far and put together a source list of this adorable room.

We moved her crib out and even though it converted to a toddler bed, she fell out of it more than one time, so when I saw this ikea bed, it was a must. It has rails on the side to keep her from falling out, but it's as wide as a twin bed. It's also extendable to grow with her over the next few years. I love products that have multi uses or can grow with a kid.

Rug: Safavieh Madison Robina Traditional Area Rug

Pink Pillows: Ikea GURLI in light pink

Yellow Pillow: Old Target Threshold Pillow, here's a similar pillow

Yellow Chair: Vintage

Striped tassel Throw: Coco & Kiwi

Pom Throw: Walmart (it looks like they no longer sell the plum)

Curtains are super old from Ikea

Sloth: is actually a dog toy from home goods

llama head: Target

Pendant light: Target

We still have some more plans in here. I'd like to paint either the wall behind the bed or paint the closet doors for a pop of color in this room. It's pretty colorful already, but most of the color is centered on the rug and bed, I'd like to pull the color up higher on the walls to draw the eye up. I'm also working on a gallery wall opposite of of the bed.

I can't wait to see what this room becomes. t has definitely been one of those rooms that decorated itself by things Millie already loves. I found the Ikea bed during a "quick trip" to ikea and just had to have. When we found that chair, it was definitely destined to have a home in Millie's room, and really made the entire room make sense. She also LOVES the color yellow, but it isn't one that I decorate with very often. I've painted a bathroom yellow once thinking it would be fun and bright, but boy was that just BAD. This chair color adds just the right amount of yellow in this room without overwhelming it. We've all had those rooms that we made major mistakes in, not everyone posted it on the inter webs for everyone to see. I've learned my lesson on colors and how I can successfully use them in my house.
